I became a realtor because my dad and I formed a non-profit to revitalize the Africatown Community in my hometown of Mobile, AL. I noticed that there are a lot of issues that many communities in America and facing. One being the barriers to homeownership for moderate to low-income earners and minorities. Homeownership of African Americans has been stagnant for decades sitting at approximately 40%. This is a result of policy changes and discriminatory practices such as redlining. Chanele has recognized these issues that prevent homeownership for minorities and has set out to combat these issues and close the gap. Chanele wants to support her community and her clients by helping them find safety, peace and security through homeownership. As a realtor, she helps to connect her clients to the social and economic benefits that homeownership brings while making a positive impact in the surrounding communities.
